Faux Silk Roman Shades

Luminous silk sheen in a clean, architectural window treatment. HPD faux silk Roman shades span Vintage Textured Faux Dupioni Silk and Solid Faux Silk Taffeta — handcrafted to your exact dimensions with lining options from privacy to blackout.

Faux silk Roman shades bring something specific to a window — the characteristic sheen and structured drape of silk-look fabric in a flat, tailored format that showcases the fabric's iridescent quality without the volume of gathered panels. The flat fold of a Roman shade allows faux silk to lie smooth and display its full sheen, which shifts with viewing angle and changes throughout the day as light moves across it.

Two collections are available. Vintage Textured Faux Dupioni Silk has a slubbed weave and iridescent character — the most textured and characterful option. Solid Faux Silk Taffeta is crisp and structured — architectural and clean, suited to formal rooms where a polished finish is the priority.

Faux silk Roman shades suit formal dining rooms, living rooms, and master bedrooms where an elevated window treatment is the design goal but curtain panels would feel excessive or impractical.

What faux silk Roman shade options are available?

Two faux silk collections are available. Vintage Textured Faux Dupioni Silk has a slubbed weave and iridescent sheen — the most characterful and textured option. Solid Faux Silk Taffeta has a crisp, structured character — clean and architectural. Both are available in custom sizes with privacy and blackout lining options.

What style options are available?

All HPD Roman shades are available in both Relaxed and Flat Roman styles. The Relaxed style features soft, casual curves at the bottom when raised — suited to informal fabrics and rooms. The Flat style features crisp, structured horizontal folds — suited to formal rooms and fabrics like velvet and faux silk where drape and sheen are the focus.

How do I measure for a Roman shade?

Roman shades can be ordered for inside or outside mount. Inside mount requires a minimum 2¾" window depth — measure the opening at three points (top, middle, bottom for width; left, centre, right for height) and use the narrowest width and tallest height. HPD makes all necessary deductions in-house. Outside mount: add a minimum of 1½" on each side for width and at least 2–3" above the opening for height. Always measure to the nearest ⅛" using a steel tape measure.

How does the lift mechanism work and is it safe for homes with children?

HPD Roman shades operate with a plastic beaded continuous loop that raises and lowers the shade smoothly through a clutch mechanism. The shade locks at any position. Free-hanging loops pose a strangulation hazard to young children — always secure the loop to the wall using the tension device provided, keep loops out of children's reach, and position furniture away from window coverings. Check that the tension device remains securely fixed to the wall and reinstall if it comes loose.

What rooms and styles suit faux silk Roman shades?

Faux silk Roman shades suit formal dining rooms, living rooms, and master bedrooms where an elevated, polished window treatment is the design priority. The flat Roman format allows the fabric's sheen to be appreciated in a clean, uncluttered presentation. Suits traditional, Art Deco, transitional, and formal contemporary interiors.
